Description
Alpha lipoic acid (ALA)
is a vitamin-like compound that has been called the "universal"
antioxidant. It promotes healthy cell function and may provide
protective benefits against oxidative processes believed to contribute
to degenerative diseases and aging.
Anti-aging
Breakthrough
- "Alpha
lipoic acid, in my opinion, is an indispensable ally in our attempt to
keep ourselves healthy in a world whose stresses and pollutants
work..." - Burt Bekson, M.D. check out the book/comments
- "Alpha-lipoic
acid protects against liver disease, improves energy and muscle
recovery, regulates blood sugar, alleviates bruising, inhibits
replication of viruses, decreases fat production, neutralizes chemicals
found in cigarette smoke, and more." -- Julian Whitaker Wellness

Besides neutralizing
unstable free radical molecules in the body, ALA has the ability to
regenerate other essential antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E,
coenzyme Q10, and glutathione (one of the body's other most powerful
antioxidants - Insufficient levels of glutathione have been linked to
the increased risk of stroke, dementia, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's
disease). ALA is also a co-factor for some of the key enzymes
involved in generating energy from food and oxygen in mitochondria. It
may enhance energy levels while also assisting the body with
maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. ALA is both water-
and fat-soluble. Therefore, it can easily cross cell membranes, and as
a result, both interior and exterior cellular structures are given
optimal free radical protection.
ALA has also been found
to promote liver health. And, in several studies, it has been proven to
promote healthy nerve function in diabetic patients who have used 600
mg - 1,200 mg per day.
The naturally produced
R-form of ALA (R-Alpha Lipoic Acid) has been found to be remarkably
well-absorbed by the body. It may be more 2 to 10 times more
effective than the standard form of ALA.
Directions
